Other Parts of the Adventure
I didnt' take a lot of pictures today during the ride. And that reminded me that there's more to this adventure than just the miles ridden during the day. As I mentioned in passing in a previous entry, we stayed with a friend in Kalispell. (Thank you, Smith.) We also experienced a car show in Libby. Lailla and I visited the cable bridge over the Kootenai River near Libby. And tonight, we went to the Sip & Dip Lounge where there was a real mermaid in a giant tank! The vibe was Tiki Bar kitsch...and they did have very good cocktails.
So here are a few pictures from today's ride and a few more from other parts of the adventure.
Holy Spirit Radio.
Dutton American Legion.
Dutton from a distance. Most towns look similar from a distance: an oasis of trees, a water tower, and a good chance of silos.
A lone tree near Dutton. It looked very lonely.
A Swainson's Hawk in a dead tree near Dutton.
Lailla, Carrie, and Sherri brought me a peach mango smoothie today for a nice midday break roadside. It was the best smoothie that I've had in quite some time. Very yummy!
This evening, Carrie, Lailla, and I went out to Sip & Dip Lounge in Great Falls, a kitschy Tiki Bar with a real live mermaid!
Then there was our lovely motel for the past couple of nights in Valier.
After yesterday's 85-miler, I rolled back into the Lake Frances Inn to a welcoming party of Lailla, Carrie, and Sherri sitting on the porch and cheering me home. I wish I had taken a picture as it was a fun welcome to a long day on the road.
And finally, I have a few pictures from the Friday-night car parade in Libby. Lailla and I also made a quick evening trip out to the Kootenai Falls and Cable Bridge about 20 minutes outside of Libby.
It is so great that Lailla is able to SAG for you. It means you have the mobility to do some sightseeing after your ride. The end of the day is not just finding a place to eat and then go to the motel room but rather you can enjoy items such as a real live mermaid!
