Welcome to Michigan

I did have some miles to finish up this morning and it was a few more miles that I was expecting, but it was a relatively easy day. I rode 31.1 miles to the Manitowoc Ferry Terminal to finish off Wisconsin. We then took the four-hour ferry ride from Manitowoc, Wisconsin, to Ludington, Michigan, arriving at 7pm. In addition to starting a new state, I have also crossed into the Eastern Time Zone now.

The ferry was the SS Badger, which was built in 1953 and was originally built to transport rail cars across Lake Michigan. Now it transports vehicles and people. The SS Badger is a National Historic Landmark.

Close to the Ferry Terminal on the Wisconsin side is a large badger statue that was pretty cool. I managed to get a good picture of the badger statue with the Badger ship in the background.

This make the badger statue look huge compared to the ship.

From the passenger deck of the ship, the statue doesn't look quite so impressive.

Finally, I thought the pictures of the lighthouses on each side of the lake came out quite nice:

Back to a normal 75-to-85-mile day tomorrow.
